BLACK OUT – 06/02/2020

In Solidarity, Peace, and Respect, Today I Black In & Black Out.

I will breathe through this.

Hello – National Resources – Music

I really hope you and your families are taking the time to review facts, talk, breathe, play, pray, and eat together.

During times of great stress, especially with this pandemic phenomena, our best outlets can be music, art, and other creative expressions, as well as reaching out to loved ones, and/or contacting a mental health professional to talk about our concerns.

Feeling heard and seen is extremely important when we feel isolated, so below I’ve created a list of nation wide resources for you. I am, by the way, in the mental health profession as well as in the music industry, so I just couldn’t help myself. I want to extend some resources to help you too.

b. 1-800-273-8255
2. Free Telephone Counseling Hotlines in the United States
3. National Alliance on Mental Illness / NAMI
b. Call 1-800-950-NAMI (6264), Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., ET, or send an email to

Some more of Summer

This summer has begun with my birthday, of course, exactly one day after the Solstice!

So far, my band FatheR BrotheR Sun ( has played our first San Francisco show at Neck of the Woods, and we are planning our return there August 14th to support Chloe Jean (

Chloe Jean was invited to play and welcomed the band to back her, so we are learning more of her songs from her latest body of work ‘Freak’ (LINK).

Take a listen to Chloe Jean backed by FatheR BrotheR Sun:

Also, we are dialing in some other dates for a back-yard boogie in my North Oakland/Emeryville space in late late August (SO Stay Tuned), as that space is about to be gobbled up by the spirits of the New Oakland Development aka pretty little gentrification.

On a lighter note, I have had the pleasure of getting away for three days, where I swam in a secluded part of the Yuba River, awoke to its’ roar, and sat tranquilly in a wood heated hot tub amongst a flourishing garden of vegetables and country living; thanks to my cuddle bug.

This summer has been absolutely amazing, so far. Though, to be inclusive of the normal fatigue of working to appreciate the highlighted blissed-out moments, all things worth maintaining and doing require work to bring into fruition, and maintanence to keep functional and/or progressing towards improvements. Like the garden I mentioned, the lovely hosts worked to maintain the health of it. While I was a visitor on vacation, they relaxed with us from time to time, though there was always work to be done in the midst of our arrival and stay. I am grateful to experience the beauty of nature, and for being an honored guest of friends who were willing to share the fruits of their labor with us.

Speaking of fruits of labor, my best friend and I, while on vacation, were talking about the importance of valuing the work we put into the nouns that matter to us; the people, places and things. I have been thinking about this for some time alone too. In the last year I have set out to release a body of work, and it was through my awareness, aims, support, actions, and drive that it finally came to pass. I have given quite a few CD’s of my EP away for free, sold many copies, and have become very selective about releasing anymore physical copies. Valuing my product, time, and energy is very important. My work was not done for free, and I have spent a great deal of time, energy, and money to nurse “fruit from my tree.” I would love for you to enjoy the fruits of my labor, but just as I had to drive miles to relax, swim, and vacate my routines, you too will have to make time for this journey:  Here is 1 of 2 albums ~ Volume Atiim

Lastly, I have put a great deal of effort into some things, and ultimately did not put enough energy into other aspectz of my life. I have taken some things in my life for granted while focusing intensely on others. The art-work on my album speaks to balance, and the work I do professionally outside of music does too, but sometimes when one is so grossly involved in various projects and other nouns, the most important things that keep all other things stable are neglected, including ones’ self. So, I leave you with this prayer:

“May your labors bare fruits your senses will praise.

May your balance be natural and supported all your days.

May your eyes be cleared and your ears be humble.

May your dreams take root and your reality cherished.

May all that you do be aligned with what your values.

May you walk slow and honor your breathing.

May all that needs healing in you and in your world be healed.

And So It Is.”

Thanks for reading. Blessings & Cheers!
